Valorant 8.01 Patch Notes and Updates

Valorant 8.01 Patch Notes

Valorant has just released patch 8.01, which brings a lot of changes to the game. Riot Games has shared the patch notes, which highlight updates to various agents, map adjustments, system tweaks, bug fixes, and more.

One of the big changes in patch 8.01 focuses on Skye, an agent who will dominate Valorant matches in late 2023. Skye is receiving major nerfs, specifically to her “Guiding Light” ability.

Guiding Light now does not recharge during a round, limiting its use. Additionally, the flash produced by this ability will automatically detonate at the end of its life, preventing those tricky fake flashes Skye has used in the past from succeeding.

To balance things out, Riot is bringing back yellow arrow markers when you’re targeted by Skye’s Explorers. These markers indicate the direction in which the explorer is approaching, providing valuable information to the player. These changes are intended to adjust Skye’s impact on the game and create a more balanced playing field.

skye

  • Removing the charge on Guiding Light (E) improves the decision point of when to charge throughout the turn and balances its ability to provide combat advantage and recon as a signature. This should provide clear trade-offs with use cases like early information gathering and push Skye to be more thoughtful while maintaining her unique selectivity.
  • Skye’s activated flash at the end of its duration prompts her to be more intentional when throwing fake flashes, while also making it easier for Skye to fly her Guide Light (E) to its maximum distance and still get its output.
  • Guiding Light(E)
    • Guiding Light no longer regenerates energy during a round.
    • Guide light now automatically activates the flash at the end of its life.
