In Subnautica, an open-world game with extensive exploration, it’s crucial to gather the necessary items to survive. While the order of crafting isn’t strict, having certain tools increases your chances of safely reaching your destination without facing threats like drowning or freezing.

Before setting out to find Delta Station, consider crafting and collecting the following items:

  1. Water: Obtain water by collecting Bladderfish, passive fish you can drain and filter water from. Use the Fabricator in the Drop Pod to create bottled water from Bladderfish.

  2. Food: Catch Cooked Boomerang fish, small passive fish you can gather by hand. Cook them using the Fabricator in the Drop Pod.

  3. Titanium and Copper: Break Limestone outcroppings by hand to obtain Titanium and Copper. These materials are essential for creating basic items.

  4. Scanner: Synthesize blueprints and research flora, fauna, and machinery fragments using a Scanner. Craft it using one Battery and one Titanium chunk. Batteries require two Ribbon Plants and one Copper Ore.

  5. Survival Knife: Create a Survival Knife using Silicone Rubber from Creepvine Seed Clusters and one Titanium. The knife helps defend against hostile creatures.

To travel faster and safer, build a Seaglide:

  1. Scan Seaglide Fragments using the Scanner, found on the ocean floor near your Drop Pod. Surface for oxygen while searching for fragments, as they’re not too deep.

  2. Gather three fragments, then use the Fabricator to create the Seaglide. The recipe includes one Battery, one Lubricant, one Copper Wire, and one Titanium ore.

Lubricant can be obtained from Creepvine Seed Clusters. Once you have the Seaglide and necessary supplies, you can embark on your journey to Delta Station more safely and efficiently. Happy exploring!

2) Getting to the Drop Pod

The game’s beginning features Robin, a zenobiologist investigating her sister’s murder on Planet 4546B. After a rough landing due to a meteor storm, she must quickly navigate to her Drop Pod submerged underwater to collect supplies and survive.

Following Thermal Lilies leads her to the Drop Pod’s location, about 300 meters from her crash site. Robin explores the area, catches small fish for sustenance, and listens to communications from her sister and colleague, Lilian Bench, who directs her to visit Delta Station HQ for the investigation.

3) Finding Delta Base

This guide provides instructions for finding Delta Base, the first base exploration in the game. To locate it, players need to surface above their Drop Pod during the day and clear weather, or at night using a specific landmark as a reference. Heading right off a large iceberg cliff, about 600 meters away, they will eventually reach Delta Station Dock. Along the way, an alien distress signal will be heard.

Upon arrival, players will receive a warning message from an unidentified woman to stay off her land. Exploring the dock area allows for collecting items from cargo storage. Moving further inland, players will encounter Marguerit, triggering a cutscene where she warns them to leave if they are not affiliated with Alterra.

After the cutscene, players can craft a Beacon to easily return to Delta Station. Crafting a Compass is also recommended, which helps navigate to future bases. Copper Wire and a Wiring Kit are needed for the Compass, with copper found in Limestone Outcroppings and Silver Ore in the Arctic Kelp Caves system. Players must break Argentile Outcrops to obtain Silver Ore and then use the Fabricator in their Drop Pod to make the Compass.

4) Finding Sanctuary Zero

In this section of the walkthrough, you’ll learn how to find Sanctuary Zero, but be aware that there are significant story and plot spoilers ahead. To locate Sanctuary Zero, follow these steps:

Begin by receiving a distress signal coming from around 200 meters below the surface. Head south from your Drop Pod and look for the Twisty Bridges made of Bridge Coral, which will lead you in the right direction. Dive into these bridges and find a small pad or base with cargo items on it. This is a guidepost showing you the way.

Beware of predators like Brute Sharks and obstacles, especially if you are in your Seatruck, as it can be destroyed if its health bar depletes. Once you reach a depth of 150 meters, leave your Seatruck and park it since its crush depth is limited to 150 meters.

Keep going down and listen for the original distress signal again. Look for green alien Architect pillars that flash in the water. Follow the path created by these pillars, and make sure to use Oxygen plants nearby to replenish your oxygen if you’re using the Seaglide.

At a fork in the cave marked with pillars, you can choose either path. Eventually, you will arrive at the entrance of Sanctuary Zero, where you can freely walk around in an oxygen-filled environment. Inside Sanctuary Zero, you’ll encounter an alien presence named AL-AN, an Architect life form. It will transfer itself into Robin’s body during the encounter.

After the transfer, Robin will recover, and the machinery in Sanctuary Zero will disintegrate. Grab the Ion Cubes available on the walls before leaving. When ready, depart Sanctuary Zero. AL-AN will call you and provide instructions for finding a new storage medium that isn’t Robin’s body.

5) Finding the Koppa Mining Site

This section of the game guide focuses on finding the Koppa Mining Site, a location rich in resources and essential items for further story progression.

To reach the site safely, players need to build a Rebreather, which conserves oxygen at lower depths. The Rebreather blueprint can be found in a Data Box at the Deep Twisty Bridges. It requires a Wiring Kit, Fiber Mesh, and Silicone Rubber, with the Wiring Kit’s most challenging component being Silver, found in the Arctic Kelp Caves.

Players will also need a High Capacity Oxygen Tank, providing 90 seconds of oxygen, and its blueprint can be found in another Data Box at the Deep Twisty Bridges.

To find the Koppa Mining Site, players should head two clicks east of south from their Drop Pod, passing the Delta Station Dock. They will then navigate around the island until they reach a deep drop-off. The mine’s entrance is nearly below the drop-off. Exploring the mine will yield valuable resources like Rubies and Diamonds, which can be collected by hand.

It’s advisable to use a Seatruck to travel to the site and then use the Seaglide for exploration. Sharks and other fauna should be avoided as they can harm the Seatruck. Frequent returns to the Seatruck parked outside the mine entrance will help replenish oxygen without surfacing.
