Steamworld Building Items and Trading Guide

Welcome to the world of SteamWorld Build! If you want to know the ins and outs of trading and getting items, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s a simple and easy to follow guide:

Getting Started: Restoring a Train Station

To start your trading adventure, make sure you have repaired the train station. Achieve this by gathering 120 workers and crafting 4 planks from the forester and lumber mill. Once completed, trains will pull into the station every five minutes, opening up a world of possibilities. Click on a train station to explore its features.

Initiating a deal: some strategies

Trading items is a breeze. Go to the train station, click the plus sign (+) in the “Ongoing Transactions” tab, and set up your transaction. Remember, the transaction does not happen immediately, but rather coincides with the arrival of the next train.

Tip: Save your hard-earned money for construction projects. Instead, engage in some “barter.” Replace excess goods with other materials. For example, exchange 25 sand, 5 scrap, or 2 iron coins for a valuable board. Scarcity also pays off; you might get two plates for one of the popular robot burgers.

Remember, it’s smarter to trade excess merchandise than to blow cash.

Shopping spree: train station shopping list

When it’s time to splurge, head to the train station’s item shop. The inventory refreshes every five minutes, and items can be purchased using money and rubies. You get the following:

  • Resources: Gold (increase your gold reserves), rubies (accumulate more rubies)
  • Warehouse upgrade: increase simultaneous delivery through warehouse delivery
  • Service Projects: Enhance service-related bonuses with service revenue and gain more citizens by serving residents
  • Production Boosters: Increase production through production opportunities and production speed
  • Miner Equipment: Equip your miners with gold scavengers, mining bonuses, shard bonuses and bonus miners
  • Prospector Gear: Equip your prospector with tool cleanup, prospector speed, and bonus prospectors
  • Mechanical Equipment: Enhance your machinery with sheet metal cleaning, machine repair bonuses, and bonus machinery
  • Guard Gear: Arm your guards with flamethrowers, shovels and shields, revolvers, rifles and bonus wards

Set yourself up for success: Make the most of your stuff

To use your new item, select a building and click Edit. Choose items that provide the desired buff. Remember that different items are suitable for different buildings, so match them wisely. For example, use production opportunity items to increase the output of a moonshiner or lumber mill.

Summary: Happy building!

That concludes a crash course in trading and buying items in SteamWorld Build! If you’re just starting out, consider exploring our guides on Citizen Satisfaction, Workshop Extractors, and Mine Progression. Get out there and build your Steam World Empire now!

SteamWorld Build Game

In SteamWorld Build, it’s like playing two games in one! First, you are responsible for creating and managing a town on a strange alien planet. You’ll build roads, install important facilities like water and electricity, and build homes for the people who live there. It is important to satisfy everyone by meeting their needs. As you progress, you’ll unlock new things and make your town better by acquiring cooler technology and improving your workers. The town’s success is measured by achieving certain goals based on the number of people living there.

But wait, there’s more! Once you’ve gathered enough materials to repair your mine, the second part of the game begins. You need to build a suitable working mine and hire miners to explore an old abandoned mine. Their mission? Find some ancient technology that can help you leave this planet! As they do so, they collect valuable ores and resources that help your town develop further. Oh, and there are monsters in that old mine, so your miners better have their weapons ready. As your town gets bigger, more engineers will arrive, allowing you to hire more miners and make your mining operation better!

SteamWorld Build Development

SteamWorld Build is underway on The Station’s 40-person team, led by Thunderful Development. The big boss who oversees everything is franchise director Brjánn Sigurgeirsson. The game is the first in the SteamWorld series not to be produced by an original Swedish team. Prior to this project, The Station worked on the art and assets for the LittleBigPlanet game. They started working on the game back in early 2020. Developers say it’s like Ubisoft’s Anno series and Bullfrog Productions’ Dungeon Keeper. But they’re making sure the two parts of the game – building and exploring dungeons – work together smoothly. The game’s story takes place concurrently with SteamWorld Dig 2, bringing back old friends while introducing new characters.

Thunderful Development has big plans for the SteamWorld series. They mentioned four games in development, one of which is this city-building game codenamed Coffee. The official announcement of SteamWorld Build was made in January 2023 during Thunderful’s “SteamWorld Telegraph” show. They even released a free demo the same day! SteamWorld Build will be released on December 1, 2023, and will be available on Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, which is very exciting.
