Epic Games acknowledged the issue in a tweet: “We are aware that players on PS5 are experiencing issues downloading the v26.20 update.” They mentioned that you can now download the update on PS5, which should also resolve matchmaking issues. However, they later released a follow-up message saying that the problem has not been completely resolved and is still under investigation.

How to update Fortnite on PS5?
Here are the simple steps on how to update Fortnite on PS5:
Automatic updates:
- Go to the Settings menu on the PS5 home screen.
- Select System > System Software > System Software Update & Setup.
- Click Automatic Updates.
- Enable automatic downloads. This causes your PS5 to regularly check for updates and download them when available.
- Also, enable automatic installation in rest mode. This allows your PS5 to automatically install updates while in rest mode.
Manual update:
- Open the PlayStation Store on PS5.
