There are some improvements to the story and dialogue, and the open arena shines with opportunities for creativity and stylish action. As you progress, power-ups and the addition of innovative gameplay elements will breathe new life into the experience. Despite its few bugs, Ghostrunner 2 is still an engaging and challenging game that caters mostly to fans of the original, as it maintains its punishing nature.
The story of “Ghostrunner 2” takes place one year after the events of the first film. Jack is miraculously resurrected after the death of The Architect, his guiding artificial intelligence in his original awakening, and now enjoys new freedoms. He allied himself with the Climbers, a rebel faction that orchestrated the overthrow of the remnants of the original Dharma Builders. They worked together to establish a semi-democratic government in the chaos that followed the collapse of the old regime.
Amid this upheaval, a long-dormant faction, the Asuras, reappeared. This cult is composed of the first generation of ghost walkers, seemingly bent on hindering Dharma Pagoda’s path to hard-won tranquility. However, their conspiracy extends far beyond civilization’s last bastion, posing a threat to all of humanity. Jack is forced to venture into the desolate wasteland beyond the safety of the tower.
After a tragic incident, our protagonist embarks on a high-speed pursuit of one of the Asura leaders and commandeers a turbocharged motorcycle. He soon finds himself exposed to the scorching sun and once again surrounded by enemies and unstable platforms, navigating this treacherous terrain with his characteristic agility and precision.

“Ghostrunner 2” gameplay
In Ghostrunner 2, players take on the role of Jack, an extremely agile character who navigates treacherous environments from a first-person perspective. Jack’s acrobatic abilities, including sprinting, jumping, wall running, and sliding, are central to his gameplay. In addition, he can swing with a grappling hook and use the Sensory Enhancement skill to briefly slow down time, allowing for aerial maneuvers.
The game introduces a stamina meter to control the frequency of dashes and deflections. Jack’s primary weapon is a sword, supplemented by special abilities such as “Shuriken”, which can stun enemies and activate remote switches. Both Jack and his opponents have limited health, making them easily killed in one hit.
Outside of Damo Tower, Jack fights against a cult of cyber-ninja AI in a mission filled with vehicular combat segments (involving riding a motorcycle), and the game’s non-linear level design allows players to plan their approach strategically. As players progress, they can purchase upgrades to enhance Jack’s abilities, although the motorcycle itself remains unmodifiable.
