Fae Farm introduces a tool upgrade system, a common feature in farming simulation games. Whether you’re delving into the game’s mines and dungeons or simply looking to improve your efficiency on various missions, understanding tool upgrades is crucial. In Fae Farm, tools not only become more efficient, but gain unique abilities starting at Iron level. These abilities range from throwing axes to performing effective area movement with pickaxes and shovels. However, these upgrades can be easily overlooked because they are provided by an NPC who can easily be ignored.
Unlock tool upgrades
To start the tool upgrade process, you must complete Chapter 2. In Chapter 3, you’ll gain access to the Brine Mines, where you can collect basic materials needed to upgrade your tools, such as copper ore, stone, and coal. Oddly, the game doesn’t make it clear where to upgrade tools, but you can access the upgrade menu by talking to the NPC “Cinder” at her usual location in the dock.
Smelting copper ingots
Before you can upgrade your tools, you need to craft a stone oven on your farm. This requires 25 Stone and 10 Coal, both of which can be easily obtained in the Brine Mines, especially if you dig deep. Once the furnace is ready, use 10 copper ores and 2 coal to smelt the copper ingot. Each starting tool requires 1 copper ingot and 100 florins to upgrade when talking to Cinder.
Unleash new capabilities and efficiencies
After reaching Bronze level, you’ll notice that certain resources can now be destroyed with your tools that were originally too weak to do so. Subsequent upgrades (Iron, Iron Ore, Silver, Orichalcum, and Gold) will continue this process, increasing your overall efficiency.
Upgrade non-metallic tools

In addition to metal tools, you can also accumulate other types of tools to increase hobby XP or help deal with threats. Upgrade these tools as follows:
- Fishing Rod: Obtain new fishing rods from Fisherman Eddie at fishing levels 3, 5 and 7.
- Critter Net: Purchase the upgraded version of the Critter Catching Level 3, 5, and 7 Net from Beekeeper Mel.
- Magic Wand: As the story progresses, the wand will naturally upgrade.

How to upgrade Fae Farm tools?
Complete Chapter 2
- Tool upgrades are only available after completing Chapter 2 of the game.
Reach Chapter 3 and enter the Saltwater Mines
- Continue the game until you reach Chapter 3.
- In this chapter you will get the key to the Saltwater Mine.
- In the brine mines you’ll find abundant resources such as copper ore, stone, and coal, which are essential for tool upgrades.
Access Tools Upgrade Menu
- While the game doesn’t explicitly direct you to the tool upgrade location, you can access this menu by talking to an NPC named “Cinder.” You’ll usually find Cinder at her usual spot on the docks.
Make a Stone Hearth
- Before you can upgrade your tools, you need to craft a stone oven on your farm.
- To create a Stone Hearth, you need to collect 25 Stone and 10 Coal, both of which are easily obtained in Saltwater Mines and will become more common the further you venture.
Experience enhanced tool capabilities
- Once your tool is upgraded to Bronze level, you will notice that you can now destroy certain resources that were previously unavailable with the starting tool.
- Continue to upgrade your tools further, working your way up to Iron, Iron Ore, Silver, Orichalcum and Gold levels. These upgrades will increase your overall efficiency.
