Baldur’s Gate 3 plot

The year 1492 DR, 120 years have passed since the events recorded in “Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn”. Just months after the dramatic events of Baldur’s Gate: The Fall to Avernus, a new dark shadow is once again having an ominous impact on the kingdom of Faerûn.

The chosen protagonist, whose name is chosen by themselves, is intricately tangled in a web of danger when the evil Mind Flayers launch a sinister invasion. After being captured by the insidious Illithid Tadpole—a parasitic entity with the ability to dominate and transform its hosts into mind flayers—the central character is caught in a trap that mirrors the plight of many others.

However, in an interesting twist of fate, the Githyanki warrior, accompanied by an ominous red dragon, makes a daring attack on the mind flayer’s Nautilus flying ship. In the ensuing chaos, the protagonist seizes the opportunity to escape and takes control of the damaged ship, sailing it back to Faerûn until it eventually crashes.
