Baldur’s Gate III is a role-playing video game that combines single-player and cooperative multiplayer experiences. In this realm, players are free to shape one or more characters and assemble a team of computer-generated companions, all in order to unravel the game’s narrative.

For those who wish, there is the option to choose a character and join forces with other players online to create a collaborative team. Unlike previous entries in the Baldur’s Gate series, the game introduces turn-based combat mechanics, similar to Larian Studios’ earlier titles such as Divination: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II. Baldur’s Gate 3 plot

Set in 1492 DR, 120 years have passed since the events recorded in “Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn”. This time frame also takes place several months after the events recounted in Baldur’s Gate: Fall to Avernus. The tide of darkness surges once again. The player, a player-named character, finds himself trapped by the Mind Flayers, evil creatures who have launched an invasion of the kingdom of Faerûn.

The Mind Flayers enslave the protagonist and a range of other creatures using illithid tadpoles, parasitic entities that attract their hosts and transform them into fellow Mind Flayers. Before this transformation could take place, however, the Githyanki attacked the Nautilus flying ship that was carrying them all. Githyanki warriors and their powerful red dragons attacked the ship, forcing it to flee across different dimensions, including the ominous Avernus, the most important realm of the Nine Hells.

In the ensuing chaos, the protagonist is freed and takes control of the troubled ship, deftly navigating it back to Faerûn, where it eventually crashes. During this tumultuous journey, the protagonists embark on a quest to destroy the insidious parasite that has been thrust upon them.

Along the way, they meet fellow survivors of the wreckage, each with their own unique background: the human wizard Gael, the half-elf priest Shadowheart, the mysterious high elf vampire thief Astarion, the human warlock Will and Raizel, a staunch Githyanki fighter.
