Another Code: R – Lost Memories Gameplay

In Another Code: R – Journey to Lost Memories, players use the Wii Remote to control Ashley Mizuki Robbins as she explores and solves puzzles around Lake Juliet. Gameplay is divided into two main parts: external exploration and internal exploration. During external exploration, the player guides Ashley along a predetermined route in the 3D environment. In the interior areas, Ashley is stationary, and the player can rotate her perspective and move between rooms by selecting doorways within view.

Throughout exploration, players can interact with the environment, highlight specific elements for closer inspection, and add certain items to their inventory. Additionally, players can take photos, which is useful for solving puzzles in the game. Interactions with non-player characters occur in visual novel-style segments, via Ashley’s dialogue with the character, with the player occasionally prompted to choose a specific reaction or present an item.

The game incorporates the motion-sensing capabilities of the Wii Remote to solve puzzles. An in-game device called “TAS” is similar to a Wii Remote, unlocking the card reader lock by completing a sequence using motion sensing and button layout. The newer model of DAS is modeled after the Nintendo DSi and serves as a menu for players to access various functions and in-game options, including viewing photos and adjusting game settings.

Contrary to promotional claims, the nunchaku accessory is required to play the game, as it is essential for completing late-game puzzles. Another Code: R blends exploration, puzzle-solving and interactive storytelling, creatively leveraging the power of the Wii Remote to immerse players in Ashley’s journey and the mystery of Lake Juliette.
